Wirgin Blogger!!!!

So here's my first attempt at this whole blogging thing.  I'm promising here and now to blog only   positive stuff.  I do believe that what you put out there returns to you.  So I'd like to start by saying that I am grateful for my friends and family and that life is truly good.

I've just returned from chaperoning my sons first youth group retreat.  Now, I've been on these weekends before and I know they are uplifting, fun and exciting.  I guess I just thought I'd go into this one open to what the Lord was going to offer up.  Little did I know what he'd offer up was my son!  This was a retreat for 6 through 12 grades.  The weekend had been going slow up to Saturday night.  Teens were still getting their feet wet and feeling out the atmosphere.  Well the atmosphere changed when my son ( all of 12) decided during Praise and Worship that he'd stand with outstretched arms.  The kid next to him pulled on his shirt and told him to sit down.  He turned, looked the kid straight in the eye, and said, "No!"  I was in awe!

My son was easily the smallest kid there and he decided he was going to show his love of and for God like no one else.  What was even more wonderful was that by the end of the song there were probably 20 other teens of all ages standing and worshiping God too.  I'm thinking he may be a leader.  He may have sacrificed everything in doing what he did and he didn't care.  Instead he gave others courage to do what they felt called to do.  That's a kid after God's heart.  I'm so proud to say he's mine.

Beyond that wonderful experience I have to say my whole being is shifting.  I've been listening to meditations put out by a woman named Stin.  She's got such an easy voice to tune into.  She's got a website  www.mythoughtcoach.com where she posts different types of meditations and affirmations you can download.  It does cost a small fee each month but I have to say I'd much rather pay that fee than a doctor, therapist or money for medication.  There are lots of studies that back up the use of visualization.  What do you think serious athletes do?  Yep, meditation and visualization.  So, check it out.  I know I'm glad I did.  Now I have to go listen and sleep.
